The Awesomest Simchas Torah Ever!

What's better to follow a crazy week of Sukkos than an even crazier holiday of Simchas Torah? Our first on at UCLA was tremendous.

Friday night on Shemini Atzeres it actually rained! which never happens in LA around this time. It gave us an opportunity to show love for the sukkah, even though technically many people no longer eat in a sukkah that night... not to mention how happy the rain made Elisa! A crowd for the "minor" hakofos and dinner was likewise great, small but spirited!

By day, Mendel was swimming in the puddles of rainwater...

Second night was the greatest! Students just kept coming, we danced in the street and then sat down to farbreng/chill with students till early morning. AEPi - don't let us down now!

...Now off to NY for Shabbos Bereishis and Gold-Rubin-stein wedding.

Non-stop Sukkos action

Whew! The five Sukkos events of the week are over, and it's been quite a rollercoaster ride! I guess we may have overestimated how much people like drumming (though those who came had immense fun!) and underestimated how much people like sushi & hukkah...

But there is no time to breathe, as the great holiday of Simchas Torah with its 48 hours of dancing, l'chaim and joy is nearing fast. Who needs rest, right?

Hope to see you all in the dancing circle!

Open House BBQ

The BBQ last night was really awesome and definitely worth the hassle! Hope everyone enjoyed themselves. People were asking for the next one already and G-d willing we'll have another one within a month, with enhanced grilling options... Pictures are online at the Picture Gallery.

The action never stops - on to the Law Shabbos.

Good Shabbos Teshuvah to y'all!

PS Mazel tov to Kaplans on the birth of a baby boy!!

New Year in High Gear - part 2

Hey, if I keep losing my posts, blogging will be way harder than expected...

But then again, life is always full of unexpected. Looks like this year will be no exception.

While we expected quite a few people for festival dinners, we ended up with lots of last-minute cancellations and no-shows :(

So, it turns out Elisa way overcooked tons of great food.

On the other had, the few people who came hopefully had a decent time and we actually got to talk to them...

New Year in High Gear

Hey everyone,

The new Jewish year is not even three days old and the classes are still three days away, but things are already hectic!

Great meeting everyone who stopped by at the Chabad table at Bruin Bash. A special shout-out to Mendy (a.k.a. Janteen) and Ariel who hung out a good portion of the day at the table - you guys were a great help!

But now I'm just feeling the aftereffects of 4+ hours in the scorching sun without water due to a fast...

Anyway, please come to the student meeting on Wednesday at Chabad, as well as the grand Open House BBQ on Thursday at 7:00 pm.

Hope everyone had a great Rosh Hashanah - more on that later. - DG
