The 12th hof Tammuz (this year, Shabbat, July 12, 2003) is celebrated by the Chabad Chassidic community as the anniversary of the liberation of the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, from his imprisonment and subsequent exile by the Soviet authorities in 1927.
